Shark Country

For all his recognition as a shipwreck hunter Teddy was first and foremost a fisherman. His love of the island’s marine environment was matched by his concerns over how it was being managed.

On a fishing trip in 1994 he was asked for his thoughts on the changes he had witnessed over his time fishing off Bermuda. One of the starkest examples of change on the reef is the disappearance of the once ubiquitous sharks.

There is a particular insight shared by those who have spent a lifetime under the water and in the film Shark Country, spearfishermen and hunters share their observations of the change they have experienced. Together with Teddy they stand as witnesses to the decline in Bermuda's marine environment gleaned over years of diving on the island's reef.
